Full emergency cover 8.30am to 7pm weekdays - and 8.30am to 12 noon on Saturdays - for registered pets
Plus overnight emergency cover with VetsNow
Our emergency service is provided by a combination of our wonderful team during the day, and the dedicated care of the Vets Now emergency and critical care team overnight and on weekends. The details of why this has changed over time can be found here.
Our team provides the emergency service between:
Monday to Friday 08:30-19:00
Saturday 08:30 – 12 noon
Outside of these times, we use the specialised services of VetsNow in Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells.
If your pet is having an emergency or you are worried it might be one, as always, please call 01435 864422. You will either speak to a member of our team, to our answering service who will take a message for our duty vet who will call you straight back, or you will be put directly through to Vets Now. This means you do not need to save multiple phone numbers in order to seek emergency treatment or advice. We recommend saving our number in your phone, so you have it there when you need us.
As well as our emergency arrangements, we also provide overnight care for those pets needing it after treatment or because they are unwell – in this case your pet will remain on our premises and will not need to be transferred elsewhere, unless you would prefer this or in some cases where the level of monitoring required means that it would be better for them to go to Vets Now.
We would appreciate your understanding that we are a pay at the time practice, and this includes emergencies. Any treatment sought at Vets Now needs to be settled as per their terms and conditions. Your vet will discuss the recommended treatment or procedure with you, together with giving an estimate of costs.
Heathfield Vets standard OOH consultation fee: £194.65

We always recommend using the out of hours emergency service of your usual vets, as they will often have arrangements regarding data and clinical history transfer, so that your pet can get the continuity of care they need.
